Celebrate Earth Week at Disney‘s Animal Kingdom

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you can come join the fun of their annual Earth Day Celebration! The park spends not just the day but an entire week honoring our planet and how we can all come together to create a healthier home for people and wildlife.

From April 18-24, you can connect with the magic of nature through family-friendly experiences and special offerings.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom delivers an Earth Day Celebration like no other. Share in the spirit of wildlife conservation and learn more about animal species the Disney Conservation Fund is working to protect.

At Conservation Station, you can try your hand at drawing as Disney artists at The Animation Experience guide you step by step to bring your favorite Disney characters to life using real animals for inspiration. Each animal represents some of the amazing stories of conservation work Disney is doing around the world.

There is also a limited-time Wilderness Explorer activity that rewards you with an Earth Day Nature badge!

On Discovery Island, you can spot a special Disney Character Cruise on Discovery River. And throughout the park, find Disney PhotoPass magic that frames you with Wall-E and Eve from Disney and Pixar’s animated feature “Wall-E.”

A limited-edition Earth Day 2022 trading pin is also available to commemorate the celebration, as well as specialty merchandise and custom food and beverages.

Believe it or not- April is a WONDERFUL time to visit Walt Disney World. The spring break crowds have disappeared (although it’s still busy) and the weather is really at its best for park visits and pool time!

The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences: A Wonderful Resort In Riviera Maya

I’m currently in Mexico attending my best friend‘s wedding and we are staying at The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences. This hotel is located about 40 minutes south of Cancun International Airport and just north of Playa del Carmen.

This is a fantastic resort you should consider for your next trip! This resort is wonderful for all types of travel: families, couples and even groups of single friends.

Let’s start with the rooms: they offer standard hotel rooms (called Deluxe), and 1/2/3 bedroom residences. These are owned by private indivudi who rent them out in the all-inclusive program. So that’s sort of confusing: menus have price points on them, but that’s directed toward the owners who don’t adhere to the all-inclusive plan.

We are staying in a 1 bedroom “penthouse” unit and have a wonderful terrace on the roof with a fillable tub (note: some don't offer hot water - so in buildings 1-14, they’re cold water). Unless you’re visiting in winter, this isn’t an issue). We haven’t used the rooftop much - mostly because there‘s so much to do at the resort!

For families: the kids club was top notch. My twins LOVED this club and all the offerings. So much fun! Face painting, building castles on the beach and meeting new friends. The club closes for meal time - so plan accordingly.

Want adults-only? That’s easy too since three buildings are dedicated for adults only travelers.

There are many additional experiences: taking an immersive cooking class and eating your own meal, engaging in a traditional Mayan ritual with a shaman and even hiring a chef to cook in your suite.

The beach is fantastic, but not huge. Plenty of loungers and drink service help.

The resort does allow you to rent a Bali bed (it’s 3,000mxp right now) and that’s a nice way to guarantee a great location without waking up at 6

am to snag a seat.

Is it all perfect? No, of course not. Because the resort it laid out in a unique way, the rooms don’t have oceanviews. If this is important: I can recommend other resorts.

Room service is a $3.50 fee per delivery. The food was generally good but one time it took 2 hours for breakfast to arrive. It happens. We ended up going to the restaurant.

The pool by the beach is relatively small and can be overwhelmed but here’s my tip: there are two equally nice pools near Villa 10 and they both have swim-up bars.

Service is ALWAYS prompt and attentive. My beverage didn’t stay empty for long!

The best part is the pricepoint: it’s a fantastic value for the price!

I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for great (but not Michelin-rated) food and drink with a nice beach.

That’s It!

Next week I will review our stay at the BRAND NEW Hilton Cancun! Viva Mexico!
