50th Anniversary Overload!

October 1 kicked off 18 months of celebration at Walt Disney World in Florida: Magic Kingdom park is celebrating 50 years!

There have been so many changes - they could possibly cause whiplash! So I'll break down some of the "latest and greatest" updates. I was fortunate enough to take my family to the celebration and so many people were waiting in lines to buy merchandise - we walked on most of the attractions without a single wait! That won't be the case ALL the time - there was a bit of frenzy when it came to October 1.

Here are some things to look forward to:

  • Get Ready For More Character Interactions: Since the beginning of the pandemic, in-person "meet and greets" with the characters have been suspended (for obvious reasons). Disney has done a good job staging characters more than 6 feet away and you can take a "selfie" with them in the background. However, with time (and lower infection rates) - Disney is now allowing more in-person character meetings (including princesses!) however, you still won't be able to "hug" Mickey. Not yet - but this is big progress!

  • Entertainment Options Return: Between the return of Kora Tinga Tinga at Animal Kingdom and Yee Haw Bob at Port Orleans - Riverside, Disney is bringing back a majority of performers (check out the drummers at the Japan pavilion at EPCOT!). When I was there it was so fun to see a mime in Italy!

  • Star Cruiser Launches In March 2022! That's right - if you've ever wanted to "get in the action" of a Star Wars movie - THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! Now, it's isn't a low-cost vacation, but it will definitely be memorable. Bookings begin soon so if you're interested, please contact me at john@travelprojohn.com to join the list. 20% is due at the time of booking and the cancellation policy is different than a traditional Disney World vacation.

  • New Evening Shows At Magic Kingdom and EPCOT! These two new shows: Enchantment and Harmonius are fantastic additions to Walt Disney World! The fireworks don't disappoint!

  • Nov. 7 also marks the return of “Disney Movie Magic,” the cinematic nighttime experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios celebrating Disney’s live-action film legacy, and when this projection show resumes, it will feature a new sequence from Disney’s epic adventure, “Mulan.” On December 19, the cast and crew of “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” bring back all the comedy and thrills of that action-packed show!

This is truly just a "few" of the big changes and new experiences at Walt Disney World in Florida!
